Abstract

Theology(ies) of the future are ‘projected’ in the present. Theologians are increasingly seen as or see themselves as misfits in academia, the church, and the wider public. This article explores the social figure of the misfit on the example of three women who occupy very different spaces but each embodying the creative potential and the ‘fool’s freedom’ in their unique way. Theology(ies) of the future are not least determined by how well they – misfittingly! – succeed in highlighting what diversified mainstreams overlook and what is yet the basis of all human life: plants. After all, they make up 99.7 per cent of the total biomass, this is where we unearth the genuine ‘root problem’ ...
